Important Notice
To ensure a safe and enjoyable flying experience for everyone, all pilots flying at our field must have an active AMA membership.
Why Do You Need an AMA Membership to Fly RC Aircraft
Joining the ranks of RC aviators at organized flying fields comes with a critical requirement: an active AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) membership. This isn’t just a formality—it’s your golden ticket to a world of benefits. The AMA membership provides crucial liability insurance, access to sanctioned flying sites, and robust advocacy for the model aviation hobby. Essentially, it means you can confidently soar at dedicated locations, knowing you’re covered in case of any mishaps. This is why most RC clubs mandate AMA membership to join and use their flying fields.
So, gear up and get your AMA membership to keep your flights safe, legal, and loads of fun!

Considerations for New RC Devices
Some, but not all things to consider when looking to purchase a RC Device:
Budget, Type of RC Device, Ease of Use, Flight Time, Durability, Community and Support are just a few.
Let’s Explore Our Options
As an RC pilot, it’s essential to consider all the possibilities. Let’s dive deeper and explore some of these options now.
- Budget: Determine how much you’re willing to spend. It’s easy to get carried away with all the cool features available!
- Type of RC Device: Decide whether you want an airplane, helicopter, drone, or another type of RC model.
- Ease of Use: Look for beginner-friendly models that are easy to control and maintain.
- Flight Time: Consider how long you want the device to fly on a single charge.
- Durability: Choose a model that can withstand rough landings, especially if you’re a beginner.
- Community and Support: Joining a club can provide valuable support for you and your RC Device.
- Consider a Flight Simulator: Take your flying skills to new heights by practicing with a flight simulator. Real Flight Evolution is an excellent choice for honing your RC aviation abilities.
Starting with a basic model and gradually upgrading as you gain experience can be a smart approach. Happy flying! 🚁
As always, we are here to help. Even if you are not sure and need/want to ask a question, please do so. Getting started on the ‘right foot’ will bring you rewarding experiences.
Let’s make your journey enjoyable and successful together!
Starting on the Right Foot: Advice for New RC Pilots
If you’ve never flown before, it’s essential to start on the right foot. Please make sure you either learn on a flight simulator or partner with an instructor. Don’t rush out and buy an RC airplane and attempt to fly it without proper training. Chances are, you’ll end up crashing, which can be discouraging and might even make you leave the hobby altogether. Taking these steps will help ensure a fun and successful journey into the world of RC aviation.
Stay positive and take your time—you’ll be soaring in no time! 🚁
